SEED APP

Seed is a health management app that can assist individuals in developing a healthier lifestyle and achieving their health goals by creating affordable personalized plans with the help of professional advisors.

01.
Introduction
#Project goal:
An app make professional heath management plan with affordable price.
#Why I want to make SEED
Based on my past experiences with health apps, they have either been too simplistic in their functionality or too complicated to navigate. Some apps even require extensive testing before you can begin using them.
I am looking for a health management app that can serve as a reminder for me to eat meals on time, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly. Additionally, it should offer customized diet and exercise plans created with the assistance of affordable professional advisors.
The Problem:
• Too simple in function
• Too complicated to interact
• Too many question before start.
My Expectations
• Meal reminder
• Water reminder
• Professional
• Workout plan

#Product Positioning
Seed Health is a health and weight management app that allows users to track their daily health plans through visual and psychological stimulation. Upon starting their health plan, each user will receive a seed. By completing workout or diet plans, the seed will be watered. Each user has a weight goal set up upon logging in, and when that goal is achieved, the tree will bloom. The tree's image serves as a visual representation of their progress.
I strongly believe that the concepts of "seed," "tree," and "plants" are associated with many positive words such as "self-love," "happiness," and "vitality," and can bring healthy energy into our lives. Loving yourself means loving your little seed.

Research
02.
#Competitive Research
It is important to conduct research on other health management and weight control apps. By listing out their strengths and weaknesses, we can not only identify the areas we should focus on to maintain high quality, but also determine how we can innovate and improve to set Seed apart from other health management apps.
Based on the data I gathered from market research, I analyzed three similar software applications, as shown below. Additionally, I collected comments from the App Store and summarized the most common strengths and weaknesses as follows.

Noom

Strength:
• Easily comprehensible user flow.
• Suggestive diet plan and fitness plan.
• Educate users on the nutritional facts.
Weakness:
• Assigned personal trainer with slow response time
• Limited work-out environment, more for working people.
• Doesn't have a tab for logging exercise.

MyFitnessPal
Strength:
• Professional advise base on health information.
• The breakdown of information into multiple charts and graphs.
• Flexibility of being able to modify multiple facts of goals.
Weakness:
• Interface are not very efficient.
• Difficult to scroll and go to the next input field.
• No design or graphics that would make the app unique and appealing.
• No focus on calorie information on home page.

Fitness
Strength:
• Accumulate tracking health data by an external device.
• Monitoring heart rate 24/7
• Multiple ways of calculating the calorie by different exercises.
Weakness:
• Price range for purchasing the external device.
• No info about how and why to educate users.
• No diet information.
• Cannot manually input diet calories.
As mobile phones have become an increasingly useful tool in people's daily lives, individuals have come to rely on health apps to remind them to maintain healthy lifestyles and habits. Below is data on the percentage of US adults who currently use a health app, published by MarketingCharts.com in January 2022. The data is sorted by demographic group.

Defining
03.
#Target User:
I used a target user chart to represent three audience groups that may have a high probability of interest in using Seed. This helped me to consider how the app could satisfy the needs of each target group.

Money Chaser
“I just started working, I have a budget for my meals"
“No time for me to think of what to eat everyday, I need someone who can directly tell me what to do"
“I only want to spend 15 mins on cooking food everyday"

The Gym beginger
“I don't want to look silly at gym"
“I need a friend who can lead me to start working out at gym"
“How should I make my own plan? There are too much choices on youtube"

Toxic Mid-age
“I need change in my life"
“I have hereditary diabetes, I need to take care of my body now."
“Not only for me, but also for my family, and the ones who love me"
#User Image:
I zoomed in on three specific users and analyzed their daily schedules, lifestyles, fitness experiences, and habits. This approach allowed me to focus on identifying key problems and addressing the major needs of the most important user groups.

04.
Design
#Wireframe:
Homepage & Seed Page
After completing all the analysis, I created three prototype main pages using Axure. I captured my initial idea for the homepage outline, which includes five main sections clearly showing the daily quests, as well as five task bars on the bottom of the screen for users to quickly navigate to the page they want to view. The process of making the prototypes allowed me to examine my ideas before diving into the daunting process of digitizing everything.
A good app should make it easy for users to find the task they are looking for and reduce their concerns while they are using the app. A user emotion map can help me simulate the user's behavior and enable me to determine how imperfections in the logical flow can impact the user's emotions.
#User Emotion Map

My profile & My plan
My Profile is a page that collects all the necessary information about the user for managing the app's settings. On this page, users can customize their preferences and make changes to their personal information.
My Plan is a page where users can view their history of diet and fitness plans. If a user wants to purchase additional plans, they can easily switch to another personalized plan through this page.

Calorie calculator & Community
Calorie calculator is a feature that allows users to calculate the calories in their meals and input the information into their plan. It provides a more flexible way to record diet data, especially for those who are unable to follow the diet plan at all times. They can still track their calories by manually inputting their diet information.
The Community page is designed to connect users to the internet and social media. Users can post their progress, share tips on making recipes, and thoughts, videos, or pictures. This page allows users to follow each other and start building a support network with other users.

#Guide Style:
Upon completing the research phase, I developed a UI style kit to incorporate the features into the Seed app. In addition, I distilled key brand attributes through the exploration of existing guidelines, including vitality, health, positivity, and simplicity.
-
Vitality: Seed is growing up by how much effort we put to achieve our health goal.
-
Health: Seed's main purpose is to help users to get used to being healthier in their life.
-
Positive: Seed is a sunlight to light up everyday.
-
Simple: Seed is designed to reduce user's leaning cost, and created in simplicity that will be easy to use.

#Logo design:
Brainstorm:
Seed Health is an app that provides fitness and diet plans to help people manage a healthier lifestyle. It also motivates users by allowing them to water a virtual seed and help it grow based on the completion of their health plan.
The elements that I choose to contain:
Fitness plan: Dumbbell pieces
Diet Plan: Bowl
Seed app: Seed growing, watering

Conclusion

#Challenges
A. Research
I find research to be enjoyable, but doing it independently, particularly in the analysis stage, felt somewhat subjective. As this was the first time I conducted research without a group, the most challenging part was determining the reliability of the data I found. However, validating the findings through user feedback proved to be highly insightful and helpful.
B. Ideation
Coming up with ideas on my own was a bit challenging, especially because I am not an expert in this field. Not having a partner to brainstorm with made the initial stages of the project quite difficult and perplexing.
